Good timing: special birth heralded during the holidays
All babies are special, but you could say one local infant was born right in the nick of time to mark a calendar date and time of particular note.
Parents Natalie and Ryan Whitney received their special gift in the weeks before Christmas, when they welcomed their baby girl into the world at St. Mark’s Hospital just as the clock ticked 12:12:12 p.m. on Dec. 12. The date and time (12-12-12) is one that many consider auspicious.
Natalie Whitney said she knows her new baby girl will live up to the occasion.
“She must have really great things in store for her future,” she said.
Although Natalie Whitney’s labor was induced that morning, the delivery progressed at its own pace before baby Whitney was born. Whitney didn’t select the birth date specifically for the special timing, but based on the needs of the family.
The parents, who have three other children – Ella, 8, Sophia, 6, and Ruby, 21 months – have decided to name their newest little girl Mimi Rose Whitney.
Mimi Rose was delivered healthy and thriving by Dr. Chris Barton, and the labor and delivery team at St. Mark’s Hospital. In total, eight other babies were also born on 12/12/12, although not at the same time.
The hospital staff celebrated the notable delivery and sent the family home with their new addition later that week.
