Ogden Olsen’s custom log home for sale
Living and owning a spacious custom log home can become your reality. Let your home echo your lifestyle by checking out a new log home recently placed on the market for sale. Whether you are an avid skier, have a love of the mountains or would like to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this home is a must see.
It’s quietly tucked away in the tranquil Wasatch Mountains, less than a mile up Little Cottonwood Canyon. Homeowner Ogden Olsen built the home on a one-acre parcel alongside the Little Cottonwood Creek. This enjoyable landscape has been Ogden’s primary residence since 1987. The home’s charming finishes have been something he and his family have enjoyed. But now the open country of Montana is calling Ogden’s name.
The three-level home is 4,707 square feet with five bedrooms, including a master suite, three full baths and an exercise room. The home is constructed with long-lasting pine tamarack logs. These durable and beautiful logs not only make for a sound home but add character to the home’s interior as well. Odgen even went a step further by installing tongue and groove logs on the ceilings to give it a rich lodge feel.
“I’ve sealed the interior logs so it’s splinter free and very low maintenance,” Odgen says.
The wood burning fireplace gives the rustic great room a warm and welcoming feel. The mantle is hand carved surrounded by Italian tile that spans from the hearth to the top of the vaulted ceiling. The large insulated windows mimic that beauty and become the artwork. The outside views are as breath taking as the finishes throughout the home.
“I enjoy wildlife just about every day,” Ogden says. “With the mountain view I often see mountain goats, mule deer and rock marmots.”
Log archways welcome you from the great room to the spacious kitchen and dining room. The kitchen has hardwood maple flooring and maple cabinets with tile countertops. The home is also plumbed on an artesian well. This means the water is fresh and unchlorinated which Odgen says makes for a better taste.
Minutes away from Snowbird Ski Resort, the home is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts or perhaps for a couple who has dreamed of opening a cozy bed and breakfast. Either way, Odgen knows the next owner will find it to be an oasis after a long work day.
“It’s a piece of mountain real estate but within close proximity to all the amenities,” he says.
The log home may be tucked away but it’s just 15 minutes from the nearest gas station and grocery store and 15 minutes from Interstate 215 to get you anywhere in the valley.
