Murray High Concert Band, Salt Lake Symphonic Winds to perform
The Salt Lake Symphonic Winds and the Murray High School Concert Band are performing a joint concert Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 7:30 p.m. The two groups have selected a variety of exciting selections to perform at Murray High School, 5440 So. State St.
The Salt Lake Symphonic Winds will perform an array of works, under the direction of Thomas P. Rohrer at the high school. The audience will enjoy selections such as the first movement of "Symphony in Bb," composed by Paul Hindemith. The Symphonic Winds will also perform other works, including "Lassus Trombone March" by Henry Fillmore, and "Australian Rhapsody," composed by Ralph Hultgren, in which he attempts to convey feelings of both joy and sadness. The Murray High School Concert Band will perform their own selections under the direction of Don McGuire (substituting for Rob Wilson) and both groups will join together for a dynamic performance of Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever."
