Granite Education Foundation desperately needs your help
Since 2009, the Granite Education Foundation has been able to help every eligible student who is identified as needing holiday assistance. Last year, the organization was able to help meet the holiday needs of over 600 students.
This year however, the organization expects to receive more than 1,000 names of students identified by school administrators, counselors, social workers, and psychologists as needing help.
Request after request mention that identified students have little to no winter clothes for the encroaching cold winter months. Many caregivers have lost jobs, and others are working shorter hours so that they can attend college, GED, and ESL classes with the hope of making a better life for themselves and their families.
The foundation provides for each student a large holiday adorned bag filled with a fleece blanket, hygiene items, children’s reading book, art and school supplies, plush animal and/or interactive toy, winter hat, mittens, scarf, and a sweet treat.
The foundation desperately needs your help just to provide these basics to these 1,000 kids. If you or your business can help in any way in providing new items, please contact the foundation.
Distribution week is Dec. 9, 12, and 13. Donations are tax deductible. For additional information or to offer assistance, contact the Granite Education Foundation directly at 385-646-GIVE [4483] or in person at 2500 South State Street, D-108.
