“We’re targeting Millcreek, South Salt Lake and Holladay,” says attorney Eric Allen. “We want to be the Millcreek law firm. We’re going to be here a long time.”
Eric works alongside his brother Scott Allen. The two opened Allen Legal Services this year and have a varied practice, focusing much of their time on personal injury litigation—automobile accidents, semi-truck accidents, dog bites, slips and falls, and other types of accidents.
“We hope everyone who is injured in a car accident this winter will give us a call,” Eric says.
Allen Legal Services handles estate planning and will also handle your commercial litigation issues, representing both landlords and tenants. Eric and Scott represent people being sued by landlords, banks and credit card companies. While preventing foreclosures and evictions can’t always be achieved, Eric says he can help in other ways.
“With the economy, we’ve been successful in helping people renegotiate better terms with banks and landlords,” he says.
In addition, Allen Legal Services spends considerable effort helping clients with business compliance issues. In particular, Eric and Scott have devoted a lot of time representing telemarketing companies.
“There are very few marketing and telemarketing attorneys in the country,” Eric says. “Utah has a large telemarketing business.”
In working with companies on business compliance, Allen Legal Services help make sure companies have the right contracts in place, as well as the right disclosures and disclaimers on products. And in the highly regulated marketing, weight loss, real estate and debt relief industries, Allen Legal Services ensures these businesses meet proper compliance.
“There are a lot of rules these companies have to follow,” Eric says. “We provide business and legal advice.”
As a small firm, Eric acknowledges he and his brother can’t handle every case that may come before them but he does say if he can’t help, he’ll refer the person to a competent lawyer or firm. But he says there are certain advantages to being smaller, and one of the biggest of these is providing excellent customer service. At Allen Legal Services, you won’t get lost in the shuffle and when your case is taken, Eric and Scott will give your matter their full attention.
“We provide a small-firm touch,” he says. “We get to know the individual. We go 110 percent on their behalf. Clients are our friends.”
In fact, Eric says he is willing to meet clients at their homes. Early morning, evening and weekend appointments can be made as well. And also, the firm’s rates are among the lowest around.
“You’re getting more bang for your buck,” Eric says. “Our rates are about the cheapest. We give more effective service at a lower cost.”
